RANGPUR, Oct 9, 2024 (BSS) – The Sanaton community today began five-day
\ncelebrations of their greatest religious festival of Durga puja with ‘Bodhan’
\nat 835 puja mandaps in the district amid festivity and contentment.<\/p>\n
Wearing colorful dresses, the Sanaton devotees of all ages started thronging
\npuja mandaps this morning to have a glance at goddess Durga and seek her
\nblessings for the welfare of them and humanity as a whole.<\/p>\n
The district and police administrations, law enforcement agencies and local
\nBangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (BPUP) units have taken ample steps to
\nensure peaceful celebrations of Durga puja in the city and all eight upazilas
\nof the district.<\/p>\n
Local leaders of BPUP said the five-day celebrations will end on October 13
\nnext with the ‘Bijoya Dashami’ parade and immersion of the idols of goddess
\nDurga in water bodies.<\/p>\n
The Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) and district police administrations
\nhave taken special measures and engaged adequate numbers of police forces
\nalongside deployment of RAB and Ansar-VDP to ensure peaceful celebrations of
\npuja.<\/p>\n
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Foysal, Superintendent of Police Mohammad
\nSharif Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, leaders of the Sanaton community and
\nBPUPs are visiting puja mandaps and extending cooperation to the Sanaton
\ncommunity people.<\/p>\n
“We have taken sufficient steps and security measures to ensure peaceful
\ncelebrations of the five-day Durga puja at all Puja mandaps,” the Deputy
\nCommissioner said.<\/p>\n
The Superintendent of Police said use of close circuit cameras has been
\nensured in every puja mandap and the police force, law enforcement agencies
\nand puja celebration committees are working round the clock to ensure
\npeaceful celebration of the festivity.<\/p>\n
RpMP Commissioner Md Majid Ali said the Sanaton community started
\ncelebrations of Durga puja today amid huge enthusiasm at all mandaps erected
\nat different places under all six police stations of the metropolis.<\/p>\n
“We have taken adequate measures and use of close circuit cameras has been
\nensured in every puja mandap and the police forces as well as the puja
\ncelebration committees are remaining vigilant to ensure peaceful celebration
\nof the festivity,” he added.<\/p>\n
Rangpur district administration officials said celebrations of puja festival
\nbegan today at 835 mandaps in all eight upazilas and Rangpur metropolis in
\nthe district.<\/p>\n
President of Rangpur metropolitan unit of BPUP Ram Jiban Kundu said the
\nSanaton community today began celebrations of puja amid huge enthusiasm at
\nall puja mandaps erected in the metropolis as elsewhere across the district.<\/p>\n
Talking to this reporter at different puja mandaps in the metropolis today,
\nSanaton devotees Bibhuti Bhushan, Dulal Chandra and Rakhi Rani expressed
\nsatisfaction over the security steps taken for the peaceful celebration.<\/p>\n
“We are offering prayers, puja, archana, kirtons and other religious rituals
\npeacefully amid huge enthusiasm and cheerfulness,” said another devotee
\nNikhil Chandra Roy.<\/p>\n
General Secretary of Rangpur metropolitan unit of BPUP Advocate Prashant
\nKumar Roy thanked the local administrations and law enforcement agencies for
